Earth Day Special: Hawaiian 'Ulu Necklace

tidepoollove

The Hawaiian 'Ulu necklace debuts in honor of April (Native Hawaiian Plant Month) and Earth Day! The 'ulu (breadfruit) is one of the original plants brought by canoe by the first Polynesians who sailed to Hawaii. Thus, the 'ulu is often referred to as a "canoe plant". The fruit can be eaten in all stages of maturity and is a staple for the Native Hawaiian people. The sap of the 'ulu was used to caulk the canoes and the wood from the tree was used to make portions of the canoes used in navigation.  Carved and cast out of solid sterling silver, then heavily dipped in over 2.5 microns of 14k gold, this 'ulu leaf and fruit is simple, sturdy and a lovely nod toward the beauty and importance of Native Hawaiian plants. 14kgf chain is 16-18" (adjustable) with a tiny puka shell on the end. The Sterling Silver version is carved, cast and made 100% out of Sterling Silver, including the 16-18" adjustable chain. 20% off during April, while supplies last.
