The Hawaiian opihi (the coveted shellfish which cling tightly to the rocks along the shorelines of the Big Island of Hawaii and other remote ocean cliffs), is a favored pupu (appetizer) often paired with the native staple, poi. The opihi cling to the ocean cliff rocks and many opihi pickers have lost their lives harvesting these precious delicacies. For the shell collector, the opihi shell has long been a favorite treasure! With a mountain-like shape, Native Hawaiians and locals have made jewelry out of these shells for generations. We have cast our graduated triple earring from 3 tiny shells and this earring is made of solid sterling silver then heavily dipped in 14 karat gold (including earring posts). Earring hooks are 14k goldfill. Our new favorite, we have been wearing these night and day!
