The Hawaiian opihi (the coveted shellfish which cling tightly to the rocks along the shorelines of the Big Island of Hawaii and other remote ocean cliffs), is a favored pupu (appetizer) often paired with the native staple, poi. The opihi cling to the ocean cliff rocks and many opihi pickers have lost their lives harvesting these precious delicacies. For the shell collector, the opihi shell has long been a favorite treasure! With a mountain-like shape, Native Hawaiians and locals have made jewelry out of these shells for generations. We have cast our solid opihi pendant from a tiny shell and it is made of solid sterling silver then heavily dipped in 14 karat gold. 16" chain is made of 14k goldfill. Perfectly casual, perfectly beachy-chic!
