'Ōhi'a Lehua Hair Claw Clips (set of 3)
The 'ōhi'a lehua is an endemic Native flower that grows in the forests of all six of the largest Hawaiian Islands and this Native plant can also grow directly on lava, so it is often associated with the Island of Hawai'i. ‘Ōhi‘a lehua wood was traditionally used for kapa beaters, poi boards, and weapons, while its leaves were used as a medicinal tea. Its flowers and young growth were used for lei and hula adornment. It is also one of the most important trees for Native Hawaiian birds such as 'Apapane, 'I'iwi and 'Akohekohe, which get their food from nectar-producing flowers. The dark red (or bring yellow) blossoms are a symbol of love and resilience and the 'ohi'a lehua is associated with Pele and Laka in Hawaiian oral history. Our collection of 3 'ohi'a lehua include one illustration by my sister, Trudi Galera, and we are so excited to debut these hair accessories for Holiday '25. The mini Red 'ohi'a lehua is approximately 2" wide, the larger version is approximately 3" wide and the horizontal 'ōhi'a lehua with the liko lehua baby blossoms is also appoximately 3" wide. Strong, durable and stunning, this set of 3 is available online for a limited time, or while supplies last! USPS shipping within the U.S. is included!
